Near South Davenport--Live from the Zoo Bar, 2005--liner notes
Recorded May 3, 2005 from the mixing board @ the Zoo Bar in Lincoln, NE. This is the middle-period version of the band: just me, Noah, and Dan. We were the openers, followed by The/Return, and the Static Octopus (of which I was also a member at the time). There was a good crowd, and we were developing a small following at the time from playing out quite a bit locally. It was a real honor for me personally for us to be on the same bill as The/Return, who are one of the best bands I've ever heard. There was a problem apparently with a connection from the board to my DAT recorder, as one of the channels cuts out occasionally. Still, this was one of our better live performances, even though I usually dislike live recordings. The set list was: Deep East Bloc; Flashlight Tag; The Retriever; Contrived; Flowers; Near South; Stay, Don't Go; and a cover of Trip Shakespeare's The Bride.
